The trauma care community is gearing up for two significant events: TraumaCon 2025 in Kansas City and the TCAA Annual Trauma Conference 2025 in Las Vegas.
The NQS team is excited to participate in both conferences, and we want to share some of the conference sessions we’re excited about.
TraumaCon 2025 (April 23-25, Kansas City)
Hosted by the Society of Trauma Nurses at the Kansas City Convention Center, TraumaCon brings together trauma nursing professionals for three days of education, networking, and professional development.

FRIDAY, APRIL 25
Trauma Activation Criteria Overload: Are More Better?
07:00 AM – 07:55 AM
Summary:
Multi-center data study examining the number of trauma activation criteria (TAC) used at trauma centers vs. activation rates. Survey and trauma registry data from 36 centers showed wide variation in number of TAC, but no significant difference in highest-level activation rates between centers – suggesting that having more criteria does not necessarily increase activations.
Learning Objectives:
Analyze trauma activation data, evaluate effectiveness of TAC thresholds, and inform clinical activation policy.
Speaker:
Nina Wilson, MSN, RN
FRIDAY, APRIL 25
Making the Time Count: IR Request to Sheath Placement
08:00 AM – 08:50 AM
Summary:
Performance improvement project to expedite interventional radiology (IR) response for hemorrhage control in trauma. Analyzed process delays and implemented an algorithm with defined criteria and documentation. Integrated the compliance tracking into the trauma registry and provided feedback to stakeholders, resulting in significantly improved times from IR request to sheath placement.
Learning Objectives:
Improve IR responsiveness, track trauma registry metrics, and optimize interdisciplinary coordination during hemorrhage events.
Speakers:
Meaghan Crawley, MSN, RN, TCRN
Amy Koestner, MSN, RN
